Joseph Creer feels right at home in the BKFC light-heavyweight division.
Two of Creer’s four BKFC fights have been contested in the cruiserweight division (205 pounds) — a full 20 pounds heavier than his natural weight class. While Creer is happy with how he’s performed in all of his previous trips to the Squared Circle, he knows his body is better suited for action in the light-heavyweight division at 185 pounds.
“When I’m fighting at 205 pounds, there’s a big possibility that I’m fighting an opponent who’s a lot heavier than me, and it does make a difference,” Creer says.
“I’m a smaller guy at 205 pounds. It’s not overly taxing to get to 185 pounds, so this is where I feel most comfortable and most ready to compete.
“This is my home.”
Creer returns to action Friday at BKFC 69. Under the bright lights at Gas South Arena in Atlanta, the Columbus, GA product will make his fifth appearance in the BKFC Squared Circle against David Simpson, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App.
The U.S. Army vet certainly isn’t looking past his matchup with Simpson on Friday, but Creer visualizes himself holding the BKFC World Light-Heavyweight Championship every morning.
“If they let me challenge for the belt next year, I see the belt around my waist in 2025.”
