Brandon Girtz isn’t excited for his fight on Friday at BKFC 67 in Denver, but he certainly is looking forward to it.
“Everybody always asks if you’re excited to fight, but that’s not how I look at it. I’m prepared to compete and I enjoy fighting a lot,” Girtz says.
“After so many fights it isn’t about excitement, but I am looking forward to going out there and taking care of business.”
Girtz is looking to improve to 2-1 in the Squared Circle as he takes on fellow former MMA standout Cameron VanCamp in Friday’s Co-Main Event at the legendary Denver Coliseum. Girtz’s MMA record includes 16 bouts under the Bellator MMA banner, while VanCamp fought in the UFC before transitioning to bare knuckle.
After a motorcycle accident put a pause on Girtz’s ascent through the BKFC welterweight rankings, he’s eager to make up for lost time in his first trip to the Squared Circle since BKFC 41 in 2023.
“Most likely outcome is me putting him down,” Girtz says when asked for a prediction for his fight. “I don’t think any of my fights will go the distance in the sport. With how I fight, it’s a little crazy to think that my opponent would be able to withstand that for five rounds.
“I should be fighting for the title next year,” he adds. “I believe I’m one of the top guys in this sport. I’ve got the power, I’ve got the aggressiveness, I’ve got the dog in me – I’ve got everything that it takes to be a great fighter.”
