Sydney “Sundance” Smith is counting down the seconds until she’s back in the saddle at BKFC 67.
“I’m unbelievably excited,” she says with a big smile heading into her showdown with Kat Paprocki on Oct. 25 at the legendary Denver Coliseum in Denver, CO.
Smith fell short of victory in her two most recent trips to the Squared Circle, but she’s as enthusiastic as ever heading into her upcoming fight. Her reasoning for that is simple – and refreshing.
“If I let anything curb my enthusiasm for life that people view as losses, I wouldn’t be here today,” the 32-year-old Waynesboro, VA fighter says with a smile.
“I grew up on a horse farm. I learned early in my life that, no matter how many times you get bucked off that horse, you get back on there and you end the session on a high note. You and the horse both have to know that you’re not going to quit when times get tough.
“I try to live my whole life like that, and show that through my fighting.”
Wins and losses aren’t everything for Smith, but she does predict she’ll bring home the victory over the debuting Paprocki, who previously competed on the UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter.
“I’m coming for the win, and I see myself winning,” she says. “If it’s a close fight, that’s totally fine – but I see myself coming out on top.”
