Stephen Townsel chasing gold after levelling up at BKFC 66

Stephen Townsel was at his best at BKFC 66.

On Friday at the sold-out Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, the fleet-footed Fort Pierce, FL fighter picked apart Jeremy Smith en route to the fourth-round TKO victory.

“That’s the smoothest I’ve ever felt in a fight,” he says.

“I felt really smooth, really at home, really calm. Being calm in a fight is a superpower, and I think I leveled up in my career this past Friday.”

Smith entered fight night as the No. 2 contender in the BKFC cruiserweight division, while Townsel sat outside of the Top 5 rankings. Now that Townsel has solidified himself as one of the best cruiserweight bare knuckle fighters on the planet, he’s only interested in raising the bar.

“Once you have a fight like that, you’re expected to be better your next time out, or at least put up the same kind of fight. I’ve always improved on a fight-to-fight basis throughout my career, so I’m only going to get better,” he says.

“(A year from today) I see myself as the BKFC World Cruiserweight Champion.”
