Red-hot Dakota Cochrane takes aim at BKFC’s top dog

Dakota Cochrane called his shot on Saturday.

Right after running through the previously undefeated Will Santiago at the sold-out Mohegan Sun, the Omaha, NE product set his sights on David “Redneck” Mundell, the undisputed BKFC World Middleweight Champion, who was sitting ringside with the belt over his shoulder.

“Mundell, let’s go, baby,” Cochrane told the champ at the jam-packed Mohegan Sun. “Sign the contract. Let’s go.”

It’s yet to be determined who will get the next shot at Mundell, who sits atop the BKFC Men’s Pound-for-Pound Media Rankings with an incredible 9-1 record. Cochrane hopes Saturday’s win in Uncasville, CT — his fourth straight stoppage victory in the Squared Circle — will grant him the next shot at the throne in one of BKFC’s deepest weight classes.

“He likes to come forward and I like to come forward, so it would be an amazing show,” the eight-time BKFC veteran says. “Me versus Mundell would be amazing entertainment for fans of fighting.”

Cochrane has been chasing gold since his BKFC debut in 2019.

“It will be incredible to be a World Champion with the most prestigious promotion in the sport,” he says. “If you’re going to call yourself a champion in bare knuckle, it better be with BKFC, and that’s exactly what I plan on doing.”
