Justin Watson makes history with 2-second KO in Atlanta

Justin Watson smashed his way into the BKFC record book with his lightning-fast KO over Cole Ferrell at BKFC 69 on Friday.

Watson’s two-second destruction of Ferrell is good for the fastest finish in BKFC history. The record was previously held by Ulysses Diaz, who scored a three-second KO over Donelei Benedetto at BKFC 14 in 2020.

“This puts my name out there forever — nobody can ever take this away from me,” the China Grove, NC fighter says after Friday’s historic victory at the sold-out Gas South Arena in Atlanta. “I’m getting up there in age, so there aren’t a lot of milestones that I’m going to hit from here, so cementing my name in BKFC history was pretty nice.”

It must also be noted that Watson entered Friday’s contest with the hometown fighter Ferrell as a +607 betting underdog, according to NXTbets. That’s just icing on the cake, the battle-tested Watson says.

“I knew I was going to be a big underdog heading into this one. You’re talking about a guy (Ferrell), who’s 11-1 with 11 finishes as a professional MMA fighter, and 1-0 with a first-round stoppage in BKFC. He should’ve been a massive favorite, but I’ve always fought the toughest guy available. It hasn’t always gone my way, but I learn a lot each time, and I never back down from a challenge.

“I knew he wasn’t going to be able to handle what I was going to bring.”

Watson would like a quick turnaround in the Squared Circle. He wants to add more eye-popping finishes to his highlight reel and go as far as he can with the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion.

“I’m ready to go whenever, man,” he says.

“I’m 38, so I don’t have a ton of years left. I just want to compete as much as I can, leave it all on the table, and see where I can go with BKFC.”
