Former BYB Lightweight champion Mark “The Shark” Irwin looks to regain his title against the man who took it from him, Julio Tanori Rodriguez, in a rematch of the 2023 Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame Fight of the Year at Denver’s Stockyards Event Center September 21 at BYB 31 Stockyard Brawl. The BYB 31 main event featured this BYB Lightweight championship matchup between champion Julio Tanori Rodriguez (3-0, 2 KOs) and former champion Mark “The Shark” Irwin (3-1, 2 KOs). The pair put on a show-stopping performance last December at the same venue in what was awarded not only the BYB 22 Fight of the Night, but was honored by the Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame’s 2023 Fight of the Year. In that fight, Tanori bested Irwin by 6-round majority decision and, in turn, at 21 became the youngest active world champion in both boxing and bare knuckle.
